Hi! I’m developing a small, win 95/retro styled VR mini-game collection called “Clownbytes VR Party”.
The project includes 3 mini games: • bowling • shooting gallery • party-style VR interactions
I’ve already created most of the 3D assets and gameplay concepts. I’m looking for a programmer experienced with Castle Game Engine to help implement the VR gameplay and mechanics.
Revenue Share: Yes (split from game sales)
Planned platforms: • Steam • itch
If you’re interested in collaborating, feel free to message me!
Hi! Thanks for the welcome. I chose Castle Game Engine because I was looking for a lightweight open-source engine that works well with simple 3D assets. I’m modeling everything myself in Anim8or and keeping the game low-poly, so Castle seemed like a good fit.
Target any platform (desktop: Windows, Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, Raspberry Pi, mobile: Android, iOS, console: Nintendo Switch, web). Work on any desktop platform. VR is coming as a next target soon.
So we might need to ask @michalis if there is an estimation for VR to be at least in some alpha/beta stage
We plan to support VR target as mentioned in our roadmap.
But I’m afraid it is not ready now, not in any state for testing. We need to actually do the work connecting OpenXR (which is likely how we’ll support a number of headsets) and adjusting the rendering and input code for it. Everything should be possible, but well, it’s some work I hope to attack it this year, 2026, but no promises (and we should first release the mythical Castle Game Engine 7.0 , finishing other priority tasks from the roadmap).
Of course contributions are welcome But just to be clear: you cannot, right now, make VR games with CGE. I hope this will change in the future
From a personal note: I am enthusiastic about VR as it opens the door to really novel experiences. My Oculus headset at home is responsible for a lot of fun moments, and also a lot of healthy exercise, in 2025 So the platform is very promising.
